Job Description

Job Title: School HR Officer

GEMS Cambridge International School, Dubai is seeking an experienced School HR Officer to lead the HR function within our school environment. This role encompasses various HR responsibilities, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and overall employee lifecycle management.

About the Role

The School HR Officer will report directly to the Principal/CEO and functionally to the School Support Centre and HR Business Partner. This position requires managing daily HR operations and the administration of HR policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment and Onboarding: Support the Principal/CEO in recruiting for all school positions.
  • Liaise with the HR recruitment team for teaching roles while managing the recruitment process for non-teaching positions.
  • Prepare employment contracts and ensure compliance with GEMS policies and UAE Labour Law.
  • Coordinate with Government Relations staff for employment contracts and Ministry of Labour documentation.
  • Conduct new hire orientations and manage onboarding paperwork.

HR Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day HR operations and the administration of HR policies.
  • Provide guidance on school policies and maintain employee records.
  • Administer employee benefits and serve as the liaison with insurance carriers.
  • Produce salary certificates and other documentation as required.
  • Support ERP project teams with HR systems and policies.

Employee Relations

  • Act as the first point of contact for employee relations issues.
  • Advise management on UAE Labour Law compliance.
  • Conduct exit interviews and manage the off-boarding process.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in HR, administration, or recruitment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in a school setting and knowledge of UAE labour regulations is advantageous.

Additional Information

Visa sponsorship is provided for this position. Arabic proficiency is preferred. GEMS Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and staff, and a UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police check is a prerequisite for all appointments.

Statutory benefits (UAE)

  • Wage Protection System (WPS)

    Current-month wages must be paid via WPS no later than the 1st of the following Gregorian month. Establishments must transfer ≥85% of total wages by the deadline (Ministerial Resolution 340/2026).

  • End-of-Service Gratuity (EOSB)

    21 days of basic salary per year for the first 5 years; 30 days per year thereafter. Allowances are excluded from the calculation.

  • Annual leave

    Minimum 30 calendar days per year after the first year of service (2 days per month between 6 and 12 months).

  • Sick leave

    Up to 90 days per year on a structured paid/unpaid schedule once probation completes.

  • Health insurance

    Mandatory employer-provided coverage in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
