About the Role
- We are seeking to hire a detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced Account Officer to support the Finance and Accounts Department in managing day-to-day accounting operations, financial records, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounting transactions, supporting month-end closing activities, and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
- The Accounts Officer will provide effective support in the preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports. The role requires strong numerical and analytical abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- The ideal candidate should have experience in a manufacturing, industrial, FMCG, or similar environment, with a good understanding of accounting processes and financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records.
- Process invoices, receipts, payments, journals, and other accounting transactions.
- Verify supporting documents before processing financial transactions.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and payables and follow up on pending items.
- Maintain proper filing and documentation of financial records.
- Assist with cash and bank transactions and ensure proper recording.
Reconciliation & Financial Reporting:
- Prepare regularbank, cash, supplier, customer, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during reconciliations.
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare financial schedules and supporting documents for management reporting.
- Analyze accounting data and provide relevant information to management when required.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Ensure accounting transactions comply with company policies and procedures.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of internal financial controls.
- Maintain accurate records for audit and statutory requirements.
- Assist internal and external auditors by providing required documents and information.
- Ensure proper authorization and documentation of financial transactions.
Manufacturing / Cost Accounting Support:
- Assist in monitoring and recording production-related costs.
- Support inventory and stock reconciliation activities.
- Assist in analyzing material, labour, overhead, and other operational costs.
- Work with Production, Procurement, Warehouse, and other departments to ensure accurate financial information.
- Support periodic physical stock counts and reconciliation.
Administrative & Team Support:
- Prepare accounting-related correspondence, reports, and schedules.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and company information.
- Support the Finance Manager/Head of Accounts in day-to-day finance activities.
- Perform other accounting duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- Master’s Degree is mandatory in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is also required.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent will be a strong advantage.
Experience:
- 3 – 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment will be an advantage.
- Practical experience in reconciliations, financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, and general accounting operations.
- Experience working with accounting software / ERP systems is desirable.
Candidate Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
- Good knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good understanding of internal controls and financial procedures.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be willing to work at Sabon Wuse, Niger State.
