This policy applies to everyone who uses Handmework (handmework.com) — job seekers who create accounts and submit applications, employers who post vacancies and review candidates, and visitors who browse without an account. Handmework is operated by Careerworkflux Ltd trading as Handmework (“we”, “us”). Where different rules apply to different user types or markets, we say so explicitly.

2. Markets we serve

Handmework lists jobs and employer tools across multiple markets under one brand:

• United Arab Emirates (UAE)
• Philippines
• Nigeria
• Canada
• United Kingdom

Your account may be associated with one or more markets. Job applications and employer data are processed in connection with the market(s) you use. We use approximate location signals (for example country from your IP or CDN headers) only to suggest a relevant market and improve product defaults — not to sell personal profiles to advertisers.

Data you give us directly

• Name and email address when you register
• Professional profile: work history, education, skills, certifications
• CV/resume files you upload (PDF or document format)
• Salary information you contribute voluntarily to our salary insights
• Interview or company feedback you choose to submit
• Messages you send via contact forms or in-platform messaging
• Subscription and billing details when you upgrade to a paid plan (processed by our payment providers — we do not store full card numbers)

Data we collect automatically

• Pages visited, job listings clicked, and search terms used
• Application events: when you apply and when an employer opens your application
• Device type, browser, and operating system (via standard HTTP headers)
• IP address and approximate country (used for fraud detection, rate-limiting, and market defaults)
• Push notification delivery and open events (if you opt in)

Data from AI features

When you use AI-powered CV generation or cover letter drafting, the text you provide may be processed by a third-party AI API on our behalf. We do not share your name or email with the AI provider as account credentials. Generated output is stored in your account so you can reuse or delete it.

• Employers — when you apply or unlock contact, relevant profile and CV data is shared for that role
• Infrastructure providers — hosting, database, email delivery, error logging, and CDN (under data-processing terms)
• Payment processors — for paid plans and credits
• AI providers — only the content needed to generate requested drafts
• Law enforcement or regulators — when required by applicable law

We do not sell your personal data. Aggregated, non-identifying statistics (for example job counts by market) may be published or used for product marketing.

Handmework is multi-market. Your data may be processed in countries other than where you live, including where our hosting and service providers operate. We take reasonable steps to protect data in transit and at rest, and to limit access to staff and processors who need it.

7. Retention

We keep account and application data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for legal, dispute, and security purposes. You may request deletion of your account; we will remove or anonymise personal data except where we must retain records (for example billing or fraud logs) for a limited time.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Relevant frameworks may include:

• Canada — PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy law
• UAE and Philippines — applicable national data protection laws

9. Children's privacy

Handmework is not directed at persons under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us and we will delete the account promptly.

10. Cookies and similar technology

We use essential cookies for authentication, security, and remembering your market preference (including geo-suggested market). Analytics or advertising cookies, if used, are described in product notices and can be controlled via browser settings where applicable.

11. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices change. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date on this page; where required, we will notify registered users by email.
