Job Description
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on power plant electrical systems and equipment.
- Maintain generators, alternators, transformers, switchgear, motors, UPS systems, MCCs, battery banks, VSDs, and electrical infrastructure.
- Execute maintenance activities in accordance with CMMS schedules, OEM recommendations, and company procedures.
- Monitor equipment condition and identify developing electrical, insulation, protection, and control system defects.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair generator excitation systems, AVR systems, DSE controllers, synchronization, and load - sharing systems.
- Maintain and test circuit breakers, protective relays, switchgear, protection panels, CTs, VTs, and electrical distribution systems.
- Conduct condition monitoring activities, including insulation testing, thermal imaging, power quality analysis, and performance monitoring.
- Troubleshoot faults on generators, motors, switchgear, control panels, protection systems, and auxiliary electrical equipment.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns, carry out repairs, and support emergency maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
- Participate in planned shutdowns, outages, electrical testing, major overhauls, and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Assist with installation, testing, commissioning, startup, and acceptance of new electrical equipment and power generation systems.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, manage spare parts and consumables, and provide technical reports and recommendations for system improvements.
Requirements
- ND, HND, Technical Diploma, Trade Certificate or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Maintenance, Power Plant Technology or a related discipline.
- Certifications in HV / MV Switching, Power System Protection, Deep Sea Electronics (DSE) Controllers, Generator Maintenance, Electrical Testing or Infrared Thermography will be advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years' hands - on electrical maintenance experience in a power plant, oil and gas facility, industrial plant, marine facility or similar environment.
- Hands - on experience maintaining generators, alternators, switchgear, circuit breakers, motors, transformers, electrical control systems and power generating systems ranging from 3 MW to 24 MW.
- Experience participating in planned outages, shutdowns and major maintenance activities.
- Strong experience troubleshooting and configuring Deep Sea Electronics (DSE) control systems and synchronisation equipment.
Salary
N200,000 / month.
