Job Title: Senior Accountant (Retail)
Location: Ikota, VGC - Lagos
Description
- Our client is seeking an experienced Accountant to oversee the company's accounting and financial operations across our retail, wholesale, e-commerce, and physical store channels.
- This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced retail environment, has strong attention to detail, and can provide accurate financial reporting while helping the business make informed decisions.
Responsibilities
- Manage the company's daily accounting operations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
- Perform bank, POS and payment gateway reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow and working capital.
- Maintain accurate financial records.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable.
- Oversee inventory accounting and stock valuation.
- Work closely with Operations and Warehouse teams to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Prepare budgets and financial forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with tax, VAT and statutory regulations.
- Support management with financial analysis and business insights.
- Coordinate external audits when required.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Accountant, Accountant or Finance role within a retail or e-commerce business.
- Retail accounting experience is required.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting and stock reconciliation.
- Experience preparing management reports and financial statements.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Zoho Books, Sage, Odoo or similar.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Experience within the beauty, cosmetics, skincare, pharmacy, fashion or FMCG industries is an advantage.
