Accountant

Job Objective

• We are seeking a diligent, detail-oriented, and commercially aware Accountant to manage the company's financial operations.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, payroll, tax compliance, client invoicing, project cost tracking, and financial reporting to management.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments, staff expense claims, and client invoicing.
• Process payroll and ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions, including PAYE, Pension, NSITF, and NHF.
• Manage tax compliance, including CIT, VAT, and WHT filings, while ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.
• Track project costs against budgets, prepare job cost reports, and highlight variances for management review.
• Perform bank reconciliations, manage petty cash and cash flow, maintain financial controls and documentation, and support budgeting, audits, and financial planning.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, or a relevant professional qualification.
• Minimum of 2–4 years' relevant accounting experience.
• Experience in engineering, construction, oil & gas, or similar project-based organisations is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, or similar, with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Good knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and statutory compliance.
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality.
• Ability to manage multiple financial tasks and meet reporting deadlines.
