Job Summary
- Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Lead to drive the company's commercial strategy, oversee business development initiatives, manage bids and contract negotiations, and strengthen client relationships within the oil & gas servicing industry.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for maximizing revenue, securing profitable contracts, mitigating commercial risks, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations while supporting the company's long-term growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Business Growth:
- Develop and execute commercial strategies that drive revenue growth and align with business objectives.
- Identify new business opportunities, monitor market trends, and develop competitive pricing strategies to maximize profitability.
Business Development & Client Management:
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with International Oil Companies (IOCs), indigenous operators, EPC contractors, and other key stakeholders.
- Generate new business opportunities, manage key accounts, and drive contract acquisition through effective client engagement.
Tender, Bid & Contract Management:
- Lead the preparation, review, and submission of technical and commercial bids, ensuring full compliance with client requirements.
- Negotiate commercial terms, manage contract execution, variations, renewals, and ensure contractual obligations are effectively administered throughout the project lifecycle.
Commercial Performance & Risk Management:
- Develop pricing models, monitor project profitability, revenue performance, and commercial KPIs.
- Identify commercial and contractual risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies to protect the company's interests.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Operations, Finance, Procurement, HSE, HR, and Legal teams to ensure commercially viable project delivery, efficient contract execution, and effective payment management.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian oil & gas regulations, Nigerian Content Development (NCDMB) requirements, company governance policies, and client commercial standards.
- Prepare commercial performance reports, business forecasts, and strategic recommendations for executive management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
- MBA or a Master's degree is an added advantage.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies is desirable.
- 5–10 years' experience in Commercial Management, Contracts, Business Development, or Sales within the Oil & Gas Servicing or Upstream Oil & Gas industry.
- Proven experience managing commercial bids, tender processes, contract negotiations, and high-value client relationships.
- Strong understanding of contract administration, commercial risk management, pricing strategies, and project commercial performance.
- Experience working with International Oil Companies (IOCs), indigenous operators, EPC contractors, or oilfield service companies is highly desirable.
- Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, presentation, and communication skills.
